From the sleeve notes:

"The Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra, formerly the Sunday Players, was formed in 1964 by the dentist and amateur pianist, Douglas Smith. It was then that a small group of amateur players met in the pianist's house to play the piano concertos of Mozart. My first concert with the group was in 1970, my last in 1999 after more than three hundred concerts. From a small group I enlarged it to about sixty players from various walks of life from the whole region. Fortunately our Principal Flute, Peter Tomlinson, recorded nearly all the concerts and from these I have made a selection from the orchestra's repertoire. Not an easy task but one which I hope will give some pleasure and evoke happy memories, as it did for me. I am most grateful to Ken Bucknall of KBMF Audio, for enhancing and digitally remastering the original recordings." - Mark Foster, 2006
